The US has admitted for the first time that it has placed weapons in space

The United States has officially confirmed for the first time that it has weapons deployed in orbit. These are space control systems, the type and characteristics of which the American military has not disclosed.

This was stated by US Air Force Secretary Troy Maink during the Air, Space & Cyber conference.

“The United States now has space control assets in orbit capable of protecting joint forces from hostile adversary actions,” said Maink.

An official statement from the US Air Force noted that this was the first public acknowledgement of the deployment of weapons in space by the US Space Force .

Maink did not specify which systems he was referring to. During his conversation with reporters, he also refused to disclose their characteristics, explaining this by the need to maintain the deterrent effect of such capabilities.

A U.S. Space Force spokesman explained to TWZ that the term “space control” encompasses the use of kinetic and non-kinetic means to disrupt, degrade, or, if necessary, destroy an adversary’s capabilities. Such means can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes.

At the same time, the Space Force emphasized that it would not disclose specific applications, payloads, technical specifications, or principles of operation of the systems in orbit. Therefore, it is currently unknown what type of weapons the US has deployed .
