The US has appointed Sandra Audkirk as the new chargé d’affaires in Ukraine: what is known about her

The U.S. Department of State has appointed Sandra Audkirk as the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Ukraine. She has more than 30 years of diplomatic experience and replaces Julie Davis.
This was reported by the US Embassy in Ukraine.
Sandra Audkirk has over 30 years of experience in the foreign service. She has worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, served as Deputy Director of the Marshall Center for European Security Studies, and served as the civilian foreign policy advisor to U.S. European Command.
From 2021 to 2024, Audkirk headed the American Institute in Taiwan, which serves as the US diplomatic mission on the island.
At the State Department, she was responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, energy security, economic diplomacy, and counter-terrorism financing. During her service, she worked in Taipei, Beijing, Ankara, Istanbul, Dublin, and Kingston.
Sandra Audkirk was born in Tampa, Florida. She is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and is fluent in Chinese and Turkish.
In early summer 2026, the previous US Chargé d’Affaires ai to Ukraine, Julie Davis, completed her diplomatic mission. She had held this position since May 2025, following the resignation of Bridget Brink.
