The US intercepted another “shadow fleet” ship in the Indian Ocean

The US military conducted a naval operation to intercept the Veronica III in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility. According to the US side, the vessel attempted to evade established restrictions, but was stopped without incident.

The report states that the US military inspected and boarded the vessel in international waters. The operation took place after tracking the vessel’s route from the Caribbean region to the Indian Ocean.
The statement notes that the ship was attempting to circumvent quarantine restrictions imposed by President Donald Trump.
“We tracked the vessel from the Caribbean region to the Indian Ocean, closed the distance and stopped it,” the department added.
The American side emphasized that international waters cannot be used as a safe space for illegal activities. The department stated its readiness to carry out similar operations in the maritime sphere.
“International waters are not a haven. On land, in the air, or at sea, we will find violators and ensure justice,” the agency said.
The message also notes that the United States intends to restrict the activities of illegal actors and their allies in maritime space.
