The United States is considering inviting Alexander Lukashenko to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington or at his Mar-a-Lago residence. A final decision on this issue has not yet been made.

This is reported by the Financial Times .

According to the publication, discussions about a possible invitation have been ongoing for several months as part of attempts to improve relations with Belarus.

US Special Envoy John Cole confirmed that relevant negotiations are underway, but a final decision has not yet been made.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done before this goal is achieved. But I think we’ll get there,” said John Cole.

On March 19, Alexander Lukashenko held talks with an American delegation led by John Cole in Minsk.

On the same day, according to the Viasna human rights center, Lukashenko pardoned 250 political prisoners, of whom 15 were deported and 235 remained in Belarus.

After the talks, Lukashenko said that the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations, the release of political prisoners, and sanctions policy.

“So what about me, will I resist? I accept it normally,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

He also stated his willingness to work on possible agreements with the United States.

“Tell Donald that I agree to work out this big deal, to prepare it,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

It is noted that John Cole already visited Belarus on September 11, 2025, during which he reported on the US decision to lift sanctions on Belavia Airlines.

By the way, during his trips to Belarus, US President’s special representative John Cole discussed not only political issues with self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, but also the topic of weight loss and an American drug for obesity.
