Trump administration officials are considering easing sanctions against Russian oil.
This was reported on CNN.
American officials are ready to take such a step because of the impact of the war in the Middle East on rising energy prices in the world.
Instead, easing restrictions on oil from Russia will increase global supplies of raw materials and counteract the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Last week, the US Treasury Department allowed India to buy Russian oil that was already at sea. According to a White House press secretary, this decision would not provide significant benefits to Russia, since the crude was already on tankers.
After that, the US is considering further easing of sanctions. Nevertheless, the European Union insists that the United States not make any concessions that would be beneficial to Russia.
“It is important that we do not relax the pressure on Russia now and do not help Russia fill its military coffers by taking advantage of this situation of increased oil and gas prices right now,” stressed EU Commissioner for the Economy Valdis Dombrovskis.
As previously reported, the United States administration is considering lifting sanctions on Russian oil to prevent a possible shortage on the global market.
As a reminder, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also stated the need to lift all sanctions on Russian energy carriers .
