The US is planning trade restrictions for 60 countries around the world

The Trump administration is considering new import tariffs on dozens of countries over concerns about forced labor in global supply chains, potentially hitting U.S. allies and key trading partners, including the European Union and Canada.
This is stated in the Politico article, citing excerpts from the report of the Office of the US Trade Representative.
It is noted that the American side conducted a large-scale investigation, which covered about 60 countries. It concerns insufficient control over compliance with the ban on products manufactured using forced labor.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said this situation is unacceptable.
“The failure of our most important trading partners to address the import of goods made using forced labor is unacceptable. It creates conditions in which American workers are forced to compete on an unequal playing field. We will no longer tolerate this inequality,” he said.
According to the investigation, countries that could be subject to a 10% tariff include Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the European Union. The reason is insufficient enforcement of legislation prohibiting products produced through forced labor.
A separate group consists of states that have already declared their willingness to cooperate with the US on this issue. They are also offered a 10% tariff. Among them are Taiwan, Argentina and the United Kingdom, which, according to the report, has already partially implemented supply chain control mechanisms.
Another 44 countries, including Japan and South Korea, could face a base tariff rate of 12.5%.
In Washington, these measures are explained by the desire to strengthen the fight against forced labor in global trade and level the playing field for American manufacturers.
