The US is preparing to unblock supplies to Ukraine: which weapons will be sent first?
Some of the US military aid to Ukraine that was unexpectedly halted earlier this month could be unblocked soon, according to sources familiar with the situation, with the process set to get underway after a series of diplomatic meetings in Italy and Ukraine.

In particular, US President Donald Trump’s special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov during an international conference in Rome. Negotiations are also planned in Kyiv later, where the issue of military support is expected to be high on the agenda.
Officially, the Pentagon is currently refraining from commenting, however, according to sources, the Ukrainian side has already received signals about the possible resumption of supplies of engineering equipment and some armored vehicles. Specific terms have not yet been named.
At the same time, Kyiv emphasizes that it needs air defense and precision munitions most of all. Against the backdrop of Russia’s recent massive attacks on civilian infrastructure, these systems have become especially critical.
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the situation on Monday evening, confirmed that support for Ukraine would continue. “We’re going to send more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re under very heavy pressure right now,” Trump said, emphasizing that he was primarily talking about defensive weapons.
Interestingly, Kellogg’s meeting with Umerov in Kyiv, according to Morgan Murphy, a spokesman for the American diplomat, was not initially planned as a platform to discuss military aid. It was organized even before it became known about the suspension of arms supplies.
Washington’s abrupt decision last week to halt deliveries of air defense systems and precision weapons has surprised both Ukraine and U.S. allies, raising fresh questions about whether American support for Kyiv remains despite Trump’s claims of possible increased defense cooperation.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine. According to Trump, Moscow is demonstrating an unwillingness to make concessions, which is causing concern in Washington.
