The US military may be ready to strike Iran as early as Saturday, but President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision.
CBS News writes about this.
According to sources, the White House continues to consult on the possible risks of escalation, as well as the political and military implications of a potential operation.
At the same time, it is reported that the Pentagon may temporarily redeploy some troops from the Middle East within the next three days—primarily to Europe or back to the United States. This move is seen as a precautionary measure against possible actions or counterattacks from Iran if Washington decides to continue the operation.
The interlocutors note that such movements of forces are standard practice in the lead-up to potential military action and do not necessarily indicate the inevitability of a strike.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated during a briefing that there are “many reasons and arguments for a strike on Iran,” but diplomacy remains the president’s priority. However, she did not specify whether any possible action would be coordinated with Israel .
Levitt also noted that the Trump administration had already carried out “a very successful operation in June targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities,” and added that Tehran would be “wise to reach an agreement” with the current US administration.
Trump previously stated that the American fleet was approaching the shores of Iran . He therefore called on Tehran to immediately begin negotiations on a nuclear agreement.
As is known, the United States planned for two rounds of diplomatic negotiations on Ukraine and Iran to take place in Geneva .
