The US said on New Year’s Eve that negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war had entered a “critical” phase.
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said this on social media.

“On New Year’s Eve, as negotiations over the war in Ukraine enter a critical phase, US President Donald Trump is the only leader capable of bringing both sides of the conflict to the negotiating table,” the report says.

The US Ambassador to NATO added that Trump could see if a peace agreement between the parties could be reached.

Earlier, the Kremlin stated that Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbas if it wants to end the fighting .

As you know, the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ended at the private Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. After this meeting, a final press conference was held.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Talks between the US and Ukrainian leaders are set to begin in about an hour.

It is worth adding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the eve of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, stated that important decisions could be made by the end of the year . According to him, this depends on the position of Ukraine’s international partners and pressure on Russia.
