The United States has used more than 1,000 Tomahawk cruise missiles and up to 2,000 air defense missiles since the start of the war with Iran .

The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing American officials.

In particular, we are talking about interceptor missiles for the THAAD , Patriot and Standard Missile systems.

The sources said the scale of the use of the munitions has raised concerns among the US administration about the country’s ability to quickly implement plans to defend Taiwan in the event of a possible conflict with China .

The recovery of reserves could take up to six years, which has already led to discussions about adjusting military strategies. At the same time, officials note that there are no signs of a rapid escalation with China. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to meet with US President Donald Trump in Beijing.

In the event of a potential conflict, US officials estimate that the United States could face a short-term ammunition shortage. At the same time, Washington hopes to shorten the stockpile replenishment period through investments in military production and the development of cheaper weapons.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that after the end of the war in Iran, the United States will reconsider its membership in the North Atlantic Alliance .

As a reminder, Trump may begin the formal process of withdrawing the United States from NATO . This decision is seen not only as a threat to allied solidarity but also as part of a domestic electoral strategy to boost his ratings.

Incidentally, former US Special Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg spoke about the possible need to create alternative military alliances to NATO . He also suggested the possibility of the US invoking Article 13 of the Alliance to prepare for withdrawal.
