The United States of America will block all ships entering or leaving Iranian ports.

This was reported by the US Central Command.

US Central Command forces plan to begin blocking maritime shipping that will interact with Iranian ports at 3:00 p.m. Kyiv time.

“The blockade will be applied impartially against vessels of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs,” the statement said.

As noted, the blockade will not apply to vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz or departing from non-Iranian ports.

CNN explains that the US obstruction of shipping is related to failed peace talks that recently took place under the mediation of Pakistan.

In this way, Washington plans to block one of the sources of funding for Iran’s budget, as it allegedly charges a fee of up to $2 million for a ship’s passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump has said that other countries will join the port blockade. However, it is currently unclear who he was referring to.

In turn, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened the US, warning that “tough and decisive measures will be taken” against any military vessels approaching the Strait of Hormuz.

Recall, Trump previously stated that the country’s Navy will soon begin the process of blocking ships attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz.

After that, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, threatened the United States with a fuel price hike , saying that Americans “will nostalgically recall cheap gasoline at $4-5.”

By the way, the US president reported that American forces are beginning the process of “cleaning” the Strait of Hormuz .
