Russia may be preparing the information ground for new attacks on Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.

This conclusion was reached by analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

In their new report, the experts drew attention to the statements of the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich. He claimed that in the last week alone, 116 cases of Ukrainian drones crossing the Belarusian border were recorded. In addition, according to him, some of the drones could have targeted Belarusian border infrastructure.

ISW believes that such statements may be part of preparations for the possible use of Belarusian territory to launch Russian strike drones into Ukraine.

Analysts suggest that these are primarily Shahed and Molniya drones, which can be used to attack critical infrastructure and logistics routes in western Ukraine. Potential targets include the Kyiv-Chop highway and the railways connecting Ukraine with Poland.

The report notes that launching drones from the territory of Belarus would allow Russia to strike targets more precisely, including objects in the deep rear and even mobile equipment.

At the same time, ISW emphasizes that there are currently no signs that Belarus is preparing for a new ground invasion of Ukraine. Analysts also do not record the accumulation of troops sufficient for a large-scale offensive operation. In addition, according to experts, Russia currently does not have the necessary reserves to support such an offensive.

We remind you that Ukraine is currently not recording a concentration of troops near the border with Belarus , but the threat from this direction remains.

As reported, Russia and Belarus completed joint nuclear exercises on May 21 , during which they practiced delivering ammunition, launching missiles, and transferring missile systems.
