US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured that American weapons purchased for Ukraine under the PURL program will not be diverted to other destinations.
This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha following the G7 Foreign Ministers’ summit, which Rubio also attended.
According to Sibiga, the US Secretary of State has confirmed that no weapons were transferred under this program and there are no plans to redirect them to other regions.
“We received clear assurances: nothing from this program will be transferred to other geographic locations. Moreover, there is a signal about further expansion of the program, including through the contribution of another new country,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister noted.
The PURL (Priority Needs List) program allows NATO partners to purchase American-made weapons from the United States and transfer them to Ukraine for its needs.
Earlier, it was reported that the Pentagon was considering the possibility of redirecting some of the weapons planned for transfer to Ukraine to the Middle East due to depleted ammunition stockpiles.
