The US will spend more than a trillion dollars on defense in 2026.

US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to allocate more than $1 trillion for military needs in 2026.

He said this during a speech to American generals.

“I’m aiming to spend over $1 trillion on our military by 2026. And that’s the most in the history of our country. That’s a hell of a lot of money. We’re the best—all branches will see major investments,” Trump said.

According to him, the funding plan includes investments in new types of weapons and the modernization of existing capabilities: the development of sixth-generation fighters, strengthening nuclear deterrence, and the creation of an American equivalent of the Israeli Iron Dome air defense system, which, according to the president, should be “the most sophisticated.” Trump also announced the expansion of the Navy by at least 19 ships, including submarines, amphibious ships, and destroyers.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Gegseth, who also addressed the generals, noted the threats and the need for a rapid buildup of capabilities: “Enemies are gathering, the danger is growing, there’s no time for games. We must prepare now.” According to him, preparation means more personnel, ammunition, drones, submarines, air defense systems, and investments in manufacturing and innovation.

Trump previously instructed the Pentagon to prepare to deter China and Russia , noting that these measures are not aimed at provoking conflict, but rather at restoring military morale and maintaining deterrence at the global level.
