The Verkhovna Rada supported a bill to strengthen social guarantees for rescuers and police officers. 269 people’s deputies voted for the document.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

According to him, employees of the State Emergency Service and the National Police have been working tirelessly since the beginning of the full-scale war – clearing rubble after Russian strikes, evacuating people from dangerous areas, extinguishing fires, documenting war crimes, and ensuring order in cities and communities.

The new law establishes a minimum level of financial support for rescuers and police officers at the level of ten subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons (33,280 UAH). The document also provides for an updated system of seniority bonuses and changes the approach to the formation of payments.

Klymenko thanked the people’s deputies for their support for the bill and emphasized that this decision is an important step for people who risk their lives every day for the safety of others.

“This is a decision about respect for the service. For the people who are the first to come to the rescue and remain on guard of security in the most difficult times for the country,” the minister noted.
