The Verkhovna Rada wants to completely ban e-cigarettes

The Verkhovna Rada wants to ban the production, import, sale, and circulation of electronic cigarettes, as well as liquids for smoking them.

This is stated in Law No. 13548.

The purpose of the bill is to completely ban the circulation of electronic cigarettes in Ukraine.

The draft law provides for the following innovations:

• cessation of production;
• import;
• all types of trade.
• remove electronic cigarettes from the registers of products circulating in Ukraine;
• prohibit any state support in this area;
• establish fines for violations of new regulations;
• to consolidate changes at the legislative level to protect public health.

If parliamentarians vote for the bill, a new article will be introduced that directly prohibits the circulation of electronic cigarettes.

The law on state regulation of the alcohol and tobacco market will also be amended. Provisions on licensing and circulation of liquids for electronic cigarettes will be excluded from it.

The authors of the bill claim that used cartridges and batteries pollute the environment in Ukraine due to the content of heavy metals and plastic. And vaping liquids contain unknown impurities, which is an additional risk to life.

In addition, among teenagers aged 13-15, every fifth one is an active vaper.

Previously, the World Health Organization called on all countries in the world to raise prices on tobacco, alcohol and sugary drinks by at least 50% by 2035 .
