The war could end in 90 days: the US has revealed what is needed for this

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said that if European countries participate more actively in reducing Russia’s oil revenues, the war against Ukraine could end within the next 2–3 months.
He said this in an interview with Reuters and Bloomberg.
According to Bessent, the key factor remains pressure on Russia’s oil revenues, the main source of funding for its military operations. He stressed that the United States expects Europe to take concrete steps in this direction before Washington makes further decisions, including on tariffs on imports from China.
“We will not move forward without the participation of European partners. They must make their contribution,” Bessent emphasized.
Bessent confirmed that the Donald Trump administration supports the idea of introducing secondary tariffs — specifically from 50% to 100% — on China and India if these countries continue to buy Russian oil or petroleum products produced from it.
He also criticized European states that still directly or indirectly purchase Russian fuel — in particular through petroleum products processed in India.
“Some European countries continue to directly or indirectly support the Russian military budget,” the minister said.
According to Bessent, imposing tough tariffs on buyers of Russian oil could have a decisive effect:
“I am confident that if Europe imposes serious secondary tariffs, the war in Ukraine could be over within 60-90 days.”
The minister also said that the United States is open to discussing new sanctions against leading Russian companies, including Rosneft and Lukoil. In addition, Washington supports the idea of more active use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
One possible mechanism, Bessent said, is to create a special legal structure into which some of the $300 billion in frozen Russian assets could be transferred. Such a structure could serve as a guarantee for loans to Ukraine or as a source of compensation for war-related losses.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump for the first time publicly recognized Russia as the aggressor in the war against Ukraine and effectively admitted the failure of his efforts to quickly stop the conflict.
As reported, US President Donald Trump said that he is ready to impose “serious sanctions” against Russia, but will do so only under certain conditions.
It should be noted that Donald Trump has stated that his patience with Putin is quickly running out, and therefore he may deal a “strong blow” to Russia, which will include sanctions against banks and will affect oil and tariffs.
It is known that Donald Trump recently stated that he is ready to move to the second stage of sanctions against Russia for waging war in Ukraine.
