Theater actor Lesya Kurbasa and Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Andriy Synyshyn died at the front

Ukraine has suffered another irreparable loss: Andriy Synyshyn, an actor of the Les Kurbas Theater and the “I Lyudi, i Lyalky” Theater, was killed in the fighting in the Sumy direction. He had been considered missing since April 16, 2025, and now his death has been officially confirmed.

This was reported at the Les Kurbas Theater.

Andriy Synyshyn fell near the settlement of Yunakivka, Sumy district, Sumy region, while performing a combat mission. His colleagues from the theater “And People, and Dolls” reported the tragedy.

“He gave his life defending freedom as a warrior, and left a bright memory as an actor,” the message states.

The farewell ceremony for the warrior and artist will take place in Lviv on September 13:

• 11:00 – funeral service in the Garrison Church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul,
• 11:40 – citywide ceremony on Rynok Square,
• then — farewell in his native village of Rozvoryany and burial in the local cemetery.

Andriy Synyshyn was born in Lviv, graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in acting (course of Taisia Lytvynenko).

He played on the stage of several leading theaters:

• at the Les Kurbas Theater – in the performances “Apocrypha” by Lesya Ukrainka and “Dangerous Liaisons” by Christopher Hampton,
• in the theater “Both People and Dolls” – in the performances “Christmas Star”, “The Snow Queen”, “The Stork and the Scarecrow” and others,
• at the Maria Zankovetska Theater – in the productions “Nazar Stodolya”, “Christmas Night”, “Matchmaking on Goncharivka”, “Peter Pan: A New Story” and many others.

His colleagues called him “Sinichka” and remember him as a bright person and a true professional who knew how to combine love for the stage with devotion to Ukraine.

It was previously reported that track and field athlete and discus thrower Vitaliy Rymaruk died while defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.
