The European Commission said it currently does not have sufficient information about the attack on the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies oil to Hungary and Slovakia. At the same time, Brussels assured that there are no risks to the EU’s energy supply and that the situation is under control.

This was reported by the press service of the European Commission.

“We do not have clear information about who attacked this interconnector. Nevertheless, we pay particular attention to maintaining energy security. We are in contact with the Hungarian and Slovak authorities,” said EC spokeswoman Eva Hrnčirová.

According to her, the suspension of the pipeline section did not affect the stability of energy supplies to the European Union.

“What is important: this suspension has no consequences for the security of energy supply, which has always been a priority for the European Commission,” Khrnchirova added.

The day before, the commander of the Ukrainian forces of unmanned systems, Robert Brovdy, said that the strike on the Mykilske oil pumping station in the Tambov region of Russia had stopped the work of Druzhba for an indefinite period.

The incident provoked a sharp reaction from Budapest. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó publicly accused Ukraine of an alleged “attack on the country’s energy security.” In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga recalled that Hungary had deliberately remained dependent on Russian energy resources for years, despite numerous warnings from partners about the unreliability of Russia as a supplier.

We will remind, on August 13, units of the missile forces and artillery and the GUR, in cooperation with other components of the SOU, struck the oil pumping station “Unecha” of the “Druzhba” oil pipeline .

Subsequently, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó accused Ukraine of “attacking” an oil pipeline in Russia , which stopped oil supplies to his country.
