There were pilots on board Flydubai who saved the plane from a crash: new details of the incident

A Flydubai flight from the United Arab Emirates to Israel was prevented from attempting to take control of the aircraft after one of the pilots attempted to take control. The plane eventually made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

According to an unnamed senior Israeli official, the “worst disaster” was prevented on board. Against the background of new data, law enforcement is investigating the actions of the co-pilot, who, according to the preliminary version, tried to gain control of the plane and cause it to crash.

According to Channel 12, a group of plainclothes pilots were in the cabin and reportedly intervened to prevent one of the crew members from taking control of the plane.

Israel’s Channel 9 reported that the second pilot, who investigators believe carried out the attack, was an Omani citizen. The injured captain of the plane is a citizen of the United Arab Emirates.

After the incident, additional pilots who were on board as passengers took over the controls of the plane. It was thanks to their intervention, according to preliminary data, that a disaster was averted.

Law enforcement is currently investigating several versions of the incident, including a possible suicide attempt by one of the pilots. The investigation is also investigating whether the incident could have had a terrorist motive.
