“There will be a tough response”: Zelenskyy reacted to the massive drone attack
On the night of Thursday, July 10, Russia carried out one of the largest air attacks against Ukraine in recent memory, launching dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones across the country. The main target of the attack was Kyiv and the region.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to him, the combined air attack lasted almost 10 hours. The enemy used 18 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones, as well as about 400 strike drones. Among them were almost 200 Shahed kamikaze drones.
Not only the Kyiv region, but also other regions, in particular, Chernihiv region, Sumy region, Poltava region, Kirovohrad region, and Kharkiv region, were under attack.
The capital has seen devastating consequences. According to official information, at least two people have died and 16 others have been injured to varying degrees.
Zelensky called the attack another manifestation of Russian terror and stressed the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
“This is an obvious escalation of terror by Russia: hundreds of “Shaheeds” every night, constant strikes, massive attacks against Ukrainian cities. This means that acceleration is needed. We need to be faster with sanctions and put pressure on Russia so that they feel the consequences of their terror. Partners need to be faster with investments in weapons production and technology development,” the president said.
He added that on July 10 he will talk with partners about additional funding for the production of interceptor drones and the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine.
“Such Russian attacks must be responded to harshly. That is exactly how we will respond,” the president emphasized.
