“They’ll have to fight again”: Trump not sure if Zelenskyy and Putin will meet

US President Donald Trump is not sure whether a bilateral meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin at the leadership level will take place.
He said this in an interview with the Daily Caller.
Trump has expressed skepticism about a bilateral meeting, comparing the Ukrainian and Russian leaders to children playing on a playground. At the same time, he is confident that a trilateral meeting will definitely take place.
“As for bilaterals, I don’t know, but trilaterals will happen,” the US president assured.
Speaking about the meeting between Zelensky and Putin, he added that sometimes “people are not ready for this.”
“Sometimes they have to fight a little bit before you can get them to stop. But this has been going on for a long time. A lot of people are dead,” the American leader noted.
After the summit in Alaska, he “really believed” that the war could be ended immediately, but now Trump understands that Ukraine and Russia “have yet to go to war.”
At the same time, the American president commented on future security guarantees for Kyiv. According to him, Europe, with the help of the United States, will provide a military presence, but Washington will not deploy its contingent.
In addition, Trump emphasized that the United States is not giving weapons to Ukraine for free, but is selling them to NATO.
“We sell NATO equipment. We don’t sell it to Ukraine. We sell it to NATO. They pay for the equipment. We don’t spend money on war,” he concluded.
Recall, Trump said that within the next two weeks it will become clear whether peace can be achieved in Ukraine . If this does not happen, he warned about the possibility of finding “another approach” to resolving the war.
By the way, Donald Trump wants Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to first hold a personal meeting . Only after that is he ready to join the trilateral format of negotiations.
