They made “necessary” decisions: a judge and a lawyer were detained in Odessa for bribery

In Odesa, the SBU and NABU exposed a local judge and lawyer involved in receiving illegal benefits for making necessary court decisions. The perpetrators were detained after the last part of the bribe was handed over.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine conducted a joint operation to neutralize court deals in the city of Odesa.

Law enforcement officers established that a judge of one of the district courts in Odessa and a local lawyer offered the defendant in a civil case to negotiate a desired decision. The cost of such a “service” was $10,000.

According to the investigation materials, the defendants demanded that the first part of the illegal gain be transferred as an advance payment before the case was considered. The defendant was to transfer the second part of the bribe immediately before the judge issued the necessary ruling.

SBU and NABU officers documented the criminal activities of the scheme participants and detained them after the transfer of the last part of the money.

Currently, the suspects have been declared suspects. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved. The investigation is ongoing to identify all those involved in the corruption scheme. For the offense committed, the perpetrators face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Recall that in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained the leader of a political party, suspected of fraud and selling places on the list for the upcoming parliamentary elections . During his detention, he received one hundred and sixty thousand US dollars for including a person in the party.
