“They’re crawling like cockroaches”: what’s happening in Kupyansk and what territory the Russians control

Despite the Russian leadership’s statements about the capture of Kupyansk, the occupiers control only a few buildings in the city.

This was stated by Viktor Tregubov, head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Group, Ukrinform reports .

He recalled that statements about full control of the settlement appeared at the end of November, however, enemy units were cut off on the northern outskirts of Kupyansk.

“The Russians hold only a few buildings in the northern parts of the city. Their victorious claims about capturing Kupyansk and moving south are their own fictional reality,” Tregubov emphasized.

According to him, the tactics of the occupation army are to storm small groups trying to penetrate deep into the city.

“There can be many such groups at the same time, they climb in different directions like cockroaches,” he added.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have cut off Russian troops from supplies in Kupyansk, Kharkiv Oblast, so they are trying to advance by bypassing the city from the sides.

As is known, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting an operation to clear Kupyansk of Russian occupiers. About 60 Russian servicemen remain in the city.

By the way, the activity of Russian troops in Kupyansk has decreased , however, the intensity of operations in the Kharkiv region remains high – the enemy is trying to advance in the South-Slobozhansk direction.
