“They took advantage of the situation and artificially raised prices”: why the cost of backup power devices has increased sharply

The State Tax Service announced an artificial increase in prices for backup power devices and called on equipment sellers to stop it.

“While people were without electricity and water for 12-18 hours, and energy workers were doing everything they could to restore light to our homes, some decided to earn some extra money,” the report says.

There are already signs of a sharp increase in prices for backup power devices. According to Karnauch, in some cases the cost of equipment has increased by up to 30%.

As noted, prices were raised mainly by wholesalers, who responded to growing demand from retailers.

“The desire to make money is logical, but don’t take advantage of the situation and artificially raise prices,” the official emphasized, adding that in the same chain, the price of one product increased by 2 thousand within two hours.

Karnauch noted that the tax service will pay attention to the correctness of pricing and, if necessary, will respond appropriately.
