Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He stated that the death of the Iranian leader is a violation of international law and expressed condolences to Iran.

In a telegram published on the Kremlin’s official website, Putin expressed condolences to Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian over Khamenei’s death.
“This is a cynical murder in violation of all norms of human morality and international law,” Putin said.
According to the Russian president, Khamenei will be remembered in Russia as “an outstanding statesman who made a huge contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.”
Putin also expressed “condolences and support” to Khamenei’s relatives, the government and people of Iran.
