On the evening of September 25, Aalborg Airport, located in North Jutland, was temporarily closed due to the recorded presence of unidentified drones in its airspace.
The incident is reported by Flightradar24 and TV 2 Denmark.
Airport officials stressed that safety is a top priority, and any drone sightings are considered a potential threat. That is why the decision was made to temporarily suspend operations at the airport.
As a result of the incident, flight KL1289, bound for Aalborg, was forced to return to Amsterdam, and flight SK1225 from Copenhagen was canceled.
“At 23:40 the airspace over the airport was closed. During the day we worked in an intensified mode. One of our employees noticed an object that aroused suspicion,” said Christian Tilsted, a representative of the North Jutland Police.
It is also reported that Copenhagen police have received numerous calls from local residents who claimed to have seen drones in the sky.
Duty officer Jesper Frandsen said that all reports are being carefully checked, although he admitted that the number of calls has increased significantly after widespread media coverage. Police are carefully interviewing witnesses to rule out confusion with planes, birds or even stars.
Law enforcement officers have asked citizens to record suspicious objects on video and send materials for analysis.
This is the third time in the past month that Aalborg Airport has been closed due to unidentified drones. Local authorities are investigating to determine the origin of the drones and identify those who may have been involved in the launch.
At this point, the airport has resumed operations, but services remain on high alert in case of a recurrence of similar situations.
Aviation safety experts warn that drones in the area of civilian airports pose a real threat to air traffic, and similar incidents in Europe have already caused serious delays and even emergencies.
As a reminder, in northern Denmark, the operation of Aalborg Airport was temporarily suspended due to the appearance of unknown drones in the airspace.
As reported, on the night of September 23 , Gardermoen International Airport in the capital of Norway temporarily suspended operations due to the appearance of unknown drones in the airspace above the airport.
