Third incident in a year: Russian occupier shoots civilian in Donetsk region

The Russian occupier shot a civilian in the Donetsk region. This is the third recorded shooting of a civilian in 2025 in this region.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

A video was published in one of the Telegram channels showing a civilian trying to escape from the village of Udachne, in the Donetsk region.

The man was walking along the side of the road, holding a suitcase with the remains of his personal belongings in his hand. At that moment, a Russian occupier opened aimed fire from an ambush set up in a destroyed building and killed the passerby with an automatic weapon.

“Information on the fact of a war crime that caused the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations. Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, investigators of the Main Directorate of the SBU are conducting a pre-trial investigation,” the UCP noted.

Urgent investigative actions are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the individuals among the Russian military personnel involved in the commission of the specified crime.

“This is the third case of the shooting of civilians by occupation forces this year recorded by regional prosecutors,” the UCP noted.
