This is a war of technologies: Petro Poroshenko handed over 10 more Ai-Petri complexes to the military
Petro Poroshenko handed over 10 Ai-Petri counterintelligence systems to the military. This development was first shown to participants of the largest security and defense technology exhibition in Central and Eastern Europe, MSPO 2026, in the Polish city of Kielce in early September. However, it has been in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces for several years. As reported by the Polish specialized publication Milmag , more than three hundred systems are currently operating on the front line.
“Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and many other cities live under constant attacks from attack jet drones, from which there is no effective protection. Every day, logistics centers burn, gas stations blow up, and large and small businesses are destroyed. The situation on the battlefield has also changed. This is not a war of tanks or even drones, as we used to say. Now it is a war of technologies. Whoever is ahead in technology is ahead in war,” Poroshenko wrote on social networks.
“We once started with Ukraine asking partners to close the sky. When this did not happen, individual teams decided to invest in “R&D” – their own Ukrainian developments. One of the most successful was the Ai-Petri complex for countering enemy technical intelligence. Today, we are transferring ten Ai-Petri complexes to the Armed Forces. They blind strike drones and prevent them from reaching their targets. And in the end, this technological advantage is converted into saved lives of Ukrainian soldiers,” states the fifth President.
“It’s a pity that the monomajority failed to do its job today. We were agitating to urgently vote on 45 laws in order to receive 8 billion from partners for defense. But for some reason they kept silent about the 12 billion euros, which the Svyrydenko government was responsible for receiving. We are not waiting. We continue to work for those who protect our sky and our land every day,” Poroshenko writes.
As the manufacturers of “Ai-Petri” told at the MSPO 2026 exhibition, the Ukrainian system is not just a solution for electronic warfare. It is a cyber defense and recognition system designed to detect and counter threats related to enemy intelligence. Unlike traditional solutions, “Ai-Petri” is based on a different principle of operation. The software of the complex contains elements that use machine learning algorithms, which are constantly updated as conditions on the battlefield change and threats evolve.
After detecting and identifying a target, the system can automatically track it and, depending on the type of target and the situation, jam the control signal, video transmission and GPS GNSS or GŁONASS satellite navigation signal. The system jams targets at a distance of 20 to 30 km, depending on the terrain, in the radio bands from 300 to 6000 MHz.
The system is constantly being improved in real combat conditions. This is not a static solution – it is designed to evolve with the changing battlefield. There is a stationary and mobile version – a pickup truck transported by car. The set is laid out by two soldiers and is ready for operation in 10 minutes.
The system is also currently being implemented to protect critical infrastructure in Ukraine. The manufacturer performs contracts for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the program is partially supported by partners from NATO countries. The Ai-Petri project started in the fall of 2023 thanks to private investments by Petro Poroshenko, who invested more than 200 million hryvnias in the development and production.
