“This will indicate escalation”: Kremlin comments on Trump’s statements about Tomahawk missiles
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that for Russia, the supply of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would indicate an “escalation of the conflict.”
This was reported by the Russian publication “Interfax”.
Peskov noted that first we need to wait for “clearer information, if there is any.”
“As for the arms deliveries, first they happen, and then there are statements – at least that’s always been the case under the Biden administration, we know that well. We’ll see this time,” he said.
According to him, the Russian side’s position on the supply of missiles was “unambiguously” stated by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin – this would mean an escalation of the war.
“This will be a round of escalation, but it will not be able to change the situation for Kyiv,” the official added.
It is known that Zelensky, during a meeting with Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York, requested the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles, which, according to his estimates, could change the course of the war.
Recall, US President Donald Trump said that he had almost made a decision to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
It should be noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has stated that relations between Russia and the United States could be “destroyed” if Washington decides to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.
As reported, Putin is purposefully sending signals to the Donald Trump administration , trying to prevent the supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the White House administration is concerned about whether it will be possible to control the use of such missiles after their transfer to the allies and then to the Ukrainian side.
