UK Defence Secretary John Healy has said he is prepared to deploy British troops to Ukraine if the war ends. He said such a move would mark the achievement of peace and signal the end of Russian aggression.

This is reported by The Telegraph .

John Healy noted that 2026 should be the year the war ends.

“I want to be the Defense Secretary who sends British troops to Ukraine, because it will mean that this war is finally over. It will mean that we have achieved peace in Ukraine. And a secure Europe needs a strong, sovereign Ukraine,” said John Healy.

He emphasized that sending armed forces on dangerous operations is one of the most difficult decisions for any defense minister.

According to John Healy, he is grateful to the British people for their support for Ukraine and is proud of the level of military assistance that the United Kingdom provides to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“We are putting Ukraine in the strongest possible position so that it can achieve a just and lasting peace on its own terms,” the UK Defense Secretary added.

Earlier, the UK Defense Secretary John Healy said that his country is ready to send its military personnel to Ukraine , but only after peace is achieved. The country has already identified military units that it can send to Ukraine , and is ready to quickly transfer them after a possible peace agreement is reached.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian and French presidents and the British Prime Minister signed a declaration of intent regarding the future deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine.

It later became known that after reaching a peace agreement , Great Britain and France are ready to send up to 15,000 troops to Ukraine as part of the deployment of multinational forces.
