Three hours of negotiations: in Rivne, a military NWCH threatened to detonate two grenades in the city center

In Rivne on April 4, a man threatened to detonate two grenades on Soborna Street, after which the police began negotiations. Thanks to the actions of law enforcement officers, the attacker was detained, no one was injured.

According to law enforcement officials, at around 8:30 p.m., the police received a report from a National Guard serviceman that during a check, a 43-year-old resident of the village of Orzhiv pulled out a grenade and began threatening to blow it up.

The leadership of the Main Police Department, the investigative and operational group, explosives technicians, special forces of the RPOP and KORD, as well as patrol police arrived at the scene.

Negotiations with the attacker lasted more than 3 hours. The deputy chief of the Main Police Department, negotiators, and the head of the KORD unit participated in them. As a result of the negotiations, the man was detained.

After his arrest, it was determined that he was in the status of a foreign national.

One ammunition, pulled by a tie, ended up in the river, the other was neutralized and seized by law enforcement officers. They will be sent for examination.

“Thanks to the coordinated and professional actions of law enforcement officers, a tragedy was avoided,” the police said.

The suspect was detained in accordance with the procedural procedure. Investigative actions are ongoing within the framework of open criminal proceedings.

By the way, in Zhytomyr region, police detained two men who left a military unit without permission and are suspected of committing a double murder in Kharkiv region. The court chose for them a preventive measure in the form of detention.
