Three Russian regions have been hit by drones at once: CHP plants and oil refineries are burning
On the night of October 31, several Russian cities were hit by a wave of explosions. In Orel, Vladimir, and Yaroslavl, local residents reported loud explosions and fires after drone strikes. Energy facilities, including a thermal power plant and substations that provide electricity to the regions, were the most affected.
This is reported by Russian media.
The first air raid sirens sounded in Orel at around 00:50. After that, local Telegram channels began reporting about a “missile danger” and urged residents to take shelter in safe areas.
Witnesses reported three to seven powerful explosions in the north of the city. Flashes were visible in the sky and the force of the explosions set off car alarms in buildings.
It later became known that debris from one of the drones fell on the territory of a local thermal power plant, damaging the equipment. The governor of the Oryol region, Andriy Klychkov, confirmed the incident, noting that a fire was avoided and there were no injuries.
This is not the first time Orel has been the target of drone attacks. In August, a similar incident led to damage to a residential building and the evacuation of residents. It is worth noting that there is a military base near the city from which Russian troops launch Iranian Shahed drones into Ukraine.
That same night, a powerful explosion occurred in the village of Energetik near the city of Vladimir. According to local media, the blow fell on the Vladimirskaya electrical substation, one of the key energy hubs in the region with a capacity of over 4,000 MVA.
After the explosion, power outages were observed in the city, and fire crews were on the scene. Official structures traditionally did not report the causes of the incident.
Residents of Yaroslavl reported explosions near a local oil refinery. Regional social media outlets spread the information, posting videos of the explosions in the industrial zone.
After the explosions, Rosaviatsia temporarily closed Yaroslavl (Tunoshna) airport for arrivals and departures. The extent of the damage has not yet been officially reported.
As a reminder, on the night of October 29 , the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched strikes on Russian regions, hitting a number of strategic facilities of the military-industrial complex.
As reported, on the night of October 23, units of the Defense Forces attacked a number of occupiers’ facilities, including a strategic enterprise.
In particular, Ukrainian troops struck a facility involved in supporting the occupation army — the Ryazansky oil refinery. Explosions and a large-scale fire were recorded there.
