Three Ukrainian citizens have been released from captivity in Venezuela.

Three Ukrainian citizens who were held in Venezuela have been released and are now returning to their families.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha.

According to him, the release of the Ukrainians was made possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of Ukrainian diplomats, as well as the support of the United States and European partners.

The Minister thanked everyone who joined this process and emphasized that the state will continue to do everything possible to protect its citizens abroad.
“We are making every effort to ensure that Ukrainian citizens, wherever they are, feel the support and protection of their state,” Sybiga noted.

It’s worth noting that in recent weeks, other countries have also reported the release of their citizens from Venezuelan prisons. This occurred amid the ongoing events surrounding Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Specifically, on January 3, US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had captured Maduro and his wife and taken them out of the country. According to US Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Venezuelan leader has been charged with drug and weapons trafficking.

As a reminder, on January 3, US President Donald Trump ordered strikes on targets inside Venezuela. The country’s government declared a state of emergency due to the American attack. Trump subsequently announced that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of the country .

It was also announced yesterday that the US had concluded its operation in Venezuela , and Maduro himself would be tried for criminal offenses. The Venezuelan leader and his wife were charged with conspiracy to commit “narcoterrorism” and ” import cocaine .”

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha responded to the US strike on Venezuela and the detention of Nicolás Maduro, stating that Ukraine did not recognize the dictator’s legitimacy following the elections and violence against protesters.

Meanwhile, the Ukraine talks scheduled for Paris have been jeopardized by shifts in US foreign policy priorities. The US administration has shifted its focus to the situation in Venezuela, which has affected the dynamics of the discussions.
