Thunderstorms and heavy rains will hit Ukraine in the coming days

Stable sunny weather has not yet returned to Ukraine – the country continues to be under the influence of atmospheric fronts. Rain, thunderstorms, and in some places even downpours with hail and squalls are expected.

This was reported by weather forecaster Natalka Didenko.

According to her, almost the entire territory of Ukraine will now and will continue to remain in the zone of action of atmospheric fronts and the ascent line, which forms unstable “summer” weather.

“Our territory falls into the zone of responsibility of atmospheric fronts, there is also a line of ascent above us – this means unstable summer-type weather, with short-term rains, thunderstorms, probable heavy downpours and even squalls and hail in some places,” Didenko noted.

At the same time, the situation in western Ukraine will be somewhat calmer – there, the influence of atmospheric processes will be partially restrained by the western anticyclone, so the intensity of precipitation may be lower.

The air temperature will remain quite comfortable: +21…+28 degrees in most regions. It will be a little cooler in the west, Zhytomyr region, and part of the central regions – +18…+22 degrees are expected there.

In Kyiv on Wednesday, May 20, short-term rains and thunderstorms are forecast, with heavy downpours possible in places. The weather forecaster advises to be careful due to the risk of flooding.

“Heavy, short showers are possible in the capital — the streets may take on the appearance of a river,” Didenko warned.

According to her forecast, at the end of the week the temperature in Ukraine will gradually decrease, and the wet and unstable weather will linger.
