Tiger mosquito is increasingly being recorded in Ukraine: why is it dangerous?

The Asian tiger mosquito, one of the most dangerous vectors of viral infections in the world, is increasingly being recorded in Ukraine. Experts link its spread to climate change and rising average annual temperatures.

This is reported by Ukrainian media.

According to doctors and entomologists, the Asian tiger mosquito can carry more than 20 dangerous viruses, including dengue, Zika virus, and West Nile fever.

Due to warming, this mosquito is increasingly being found in new regions of Ukraine. At the same time, this does not automatically mean the spread of the aforementioned diseases, but the appearance of the vector increases the potential risks if these viruses are introduced into the country.
