Tkach on sanctions: we do not have a National Security and Defense Council, decisions are made by the “dynasty”
Journalist for “Ukrainian Pravda” Mykhailo Tkach stated that in Ukraine the sanctions mechanism is used not as an instrument of state policy, but as a method of political influence.
He said this in an interview with journalist Tatyana Danilenko.
Commenting on the situation with sanctions against the former head of the President’s Office, Andriy Bohdan, Tkach stated that the role of the National Security and Defense Council, in his opinion, is formal.
“We don’t have a National Security and Defense Council in our country, we don’t have anything in our country… We have a control center to which everything is subordinate, plus a whole dynasty of friends,” he said.
According to the journalist, key decisions are made by one or two people, after which they are brought to the attention of other representatives of the authorities.
“The decision is made by one or two people, and only then is it made known to everyone. Whoever disagrees leaves the government offices or may face persecution,” Tkach noted.
He also called the statement that NSDC members independently analyze the grounds and arguments before voting absurd.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions against five individuals, including Andriy Bohdan.
The National Security and Defense Council stated that the sanctions are related to a threat to the national interests and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
