Tomahawk for Ukraine: discussions continue in Washington
Ukraine is conducting a covert campaign to obtain Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States as a tool to pressure Russia in the event of a breakdown in peace agreements.
This is reported by Kyiv Post.
At the center of this initiative is Dan Rice, president of the American University in Kyiv and former special advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the publication, this week, during a meeting at the Pentagon with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Rice called for consideration of the possibility of supplying Ukraine with a limited number of Tomahawk missiles using a ground-based mobile launch system.
Rice noted that if Russia refuses peace, there is a high probability that US President Donald Trump may approve such deliveries.
At the same time, according to the Kyiv Post, there is no unity within the Trump administration on this issue. Some officials fear that the transfer of Tomahawks could undermine diplomatic efforts, while others view these missiles as a potential lever to influence the negotiation process.
Earlier it was reported that US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham offered to transfer Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if the Kremlin rejects the peace agreement.
