Special Representative Keith Kellogg clarified that his words about the possibility of transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine do not reflect Washington’s internal decisions. According to him, he was only referring to public statements, and the final decision can only be made by US President Donald Trump.
The Guardian writes about this.
Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Kellogg stressed that he did not have access to internal documents regarding the decision-making process. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the Tomahawk, calling it a “very advanced missile system.”
“If allowed to be used, it would change the dynamics of any military conflict because it would add another layer of uncertainty due to its capabilities,” Kellogg said.
He previously stressed that this was only a discussion, not a ready-made solution. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York called on the US to provide Kyiv with long-range Tomahawk missiles, capable of hitting targets up to 1,500 miles away.
According to the WSJ, the Trump administration is considering providing Ukraine with not only Tomahawks , but also other long-range weapons. However, there has been no official comment from Washington on this issue yet.
Meanwhile, Moscow has responded to claims about possible deliveries of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine . Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is “analyzing the situation” after the words of US President’s special representative Keith Kellogg. According to him, Russia is supposedly assessing potential risks and trying to find out who exactly could be involved in using these missiles – Ukrainian or American military.
