Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian delegation reported on the results of the meetings in the United Arab Emirates, which took place in a new format after a long break. According to him, the negotiations lasted 2 days and were constructive.

“There was a report from our delegation: the meetings in the Emirates have ended. And this is the first such format in quite a long time – two-day trilateral meetings. We managed to discuss a lot, and it is important that the conversations were constructive,” the President of Ukraine said.

The negotiations were held, in particular, with the participation of military representatives of the three sides. The Ukrainian side was represented by:

  • Rustem Umerov
  • Kirill Budanov
  • Andriy Gnatov
  • David Arahamia
  • Serhiy Kyslytsia
  • Vadym Skibitsky

On the United States side, the following participated in the negotiations:

The Russian side was represented by members of military intelligence and the army.

The President emphasized that the key topics of discussion were possible parameters for ending the war, as well as issues of control and security. Particular attention was paid to the role of the United States in monitoring the implementation of the agreements.

“I really appreciate that there is awareness of the need for American monitoring and control over the process of ending the war and maintaining real security,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, the American side also raised the issue of possible formats for approving the parameters of the end of the war and the security circumstances necessary for this.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to report back to their capitals on all aspects of the negotiations and coordinate further steps with the leaders of the states. The military identified a list of issues for a possible next meeting.

“Considering the readiness to move forward – and Ukraine is ready – further meetings will take place, and potentially next week,” the President of Ukraine said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked the United Arab Emirates and the UAE President for their mediation and willingness to accept further negotiations, emphasizing that Ukraine continues to work for peace and security.

It was reported the day before that the trilateral talks involving delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, which took place on January 23–24 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, had ended. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the negotiation process.

By the way, Washington is considering an offer to Ukraine to give up Donbas in exchange for a plan to finance the country’s reconstruction worth $800 billion.

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Donbas issue will be central during the trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia , which will be held in the UAE on January 23-24.

As a reminder, the US and Ukraine are discussing the possibility of offering Russia a limited “energy truce,” which would involve a cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure by both sides.
