US President Donald Trump said that achieving a ceasefire is not mandatory, he seeks to conclude a peace agreement.

He said this during a joint conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with journalists at the White House.

“I don’t think there should be a ceasefire. If you look at the six wars that I’ve ended this year, they were wars ended, not ceasefires. That would be nice, but I also have a strategic understanding,” Trump assured.

According to him, during the ceasefire, the parties will be able to accumulate strength and resume the hot phase of the war.

However, he explained that a ceasefire also has its advantages, in particular, under such conditions the killings will stop.

“I would like them to stop. But strategically for one of the parties, it could be a disadvantage,” the American president added.

In addition, he noted that the US does not support Ukraine’s accession to NATO, but Washington will provide Kyiv with “clear” security guarantees.
