Trukhanov plans to appeal the decision to deprive him of citizenship in court
Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov said he plans to file lawsuits against the deprivation of his Ukrainian citizenship.
He said this on the air of “Public. Studio”.
As Trukhanov said, he never had a Russian passport and did not travel outside Ukraine for this purpose, as evidenced by data on state border crossings in 2015-2016.
According to the official, in 2022, Zelensky accepted for consideration a similar petition to deprive him of Ukrainian citizenship.
“In 2022, neither Russian citizenship nor passports were found on me. […] I have information that the commission, which met this morning, did not reach any conclusions,” he assured.
Trukhanov emphasized that there were falsifications and provocations in the process, in particular, the surname and data in the passport were indicated with errors.
He added that he will defend himself and file a lawsuit.
“If the court cannot decide, I will file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights,” Trukhanov said.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship from Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Earlier, the Commission under the President adopted a decision to deprive the Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, of Ukrainian citizenship . After the president’s signature, his powers will automatically terminate, and the Secretary of the City Council, Ihor Koval, will begin to perform the duties of mayor.
By the way, in September 2024, blogger and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko reported that Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov had Russian citizenship. Later, Trukhanov himself responded to the information about his alleged Russian citizenship.
