The Trump administration lifted a key restriction on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons provided by its partners, allowing Kyiv to strike targets inside Russia.

This is stated in the material of The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

The number of attacks on Russia carried out using Storm Shadow is expected to increase. In particular, the publication notes that the first successful strike was carried out on the Bryansk plant on Tuesday, October 22.

However, according to the interlocutors, the Trump administration’s decision will not significantly change the situation on the front, as the supply of missiles is small.

“The decision to lift the restrictions was made before Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with Donald Trump at the White House last week,” the source noted.

The lifting of the restriction became possible after the authority to support such attacks was transferred from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth to the Supreme Commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe and Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, Alexus Grinkevich.

At the same time, as the WSJ points out, the decision coincided with Trump’s calls to increase pressure on Russia to force it to sit at the negotiating table.

So far, the Pentagon has not commented on the lifting of the restriction, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also did not respond to journalists’ requests.

Earlier, units of the Defense Forces attacked the Bryansk Chemical Plant, which is an important component of the occupiers’ military-industrial complex, with Storm Shadow missiles .
