The Trump administration asked Ukrainian officials whether Zelensky would be wearing a suit when meeting with Trump in the Oval Office.
This was reported by Axios, citing two sources.
Axios notes that Volodymyr Zelensky will appear for talks with Trump at the White House in the same black jacket he wore at the NATO summit in the Netherlands in June, but it is not a full suit.
The Trump administration said it would be “a good sign for peace” if Zelensky wore a suit to meet with the US president, but added that they did not expect him to do so.
The publication’s sources state that Trump is a big fan of looking appropriate. In his opinion, a world leader should wear a suit. But his dissatisfaction with Zelensky last time was not only related to clothing.
“They’ve both come a long, long way. Zelensky won’t show him pictures of dead children and then act like it’s somehow his fault. The president has learned to just, you know, brush off any provocations and move on,” sources told Axios.
Zelensky will also have European leaders with him, the adviser said, “so it will be a completely different atmosphere than at the previous meeting.”
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a visit to the White House , where he plans to discuss the details of a potential trilateral meeting with Donald Trump.
As is known, on August 18, in Washington, US President Donald Trump will first meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky , and later they will be joined by European leaders and the NATO Secretary General.
