US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation on November 24.
This is reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua .
One of the topics was the Russian war against Ukraine.
Xi Jinping said China “supports all efforts to achieve peace” and expressed hope that the parties can narrow differences and reach a “just and lasting peace agreement” as soon as possible. During the conversation, he also reiterated Beijing’s position on Taiwan, calling “Taiwan’s return to China” part of the post-war world order.
The leaders recalled their meeting in Busan last month, which China said provided “important momentum” for stabilizing US-China relations. Xinhua said bilateral relations had “improved” since the meeting and had received positive international feedback.
Trump called Xi a “great leader” and agreed with his vision for US-China relations. The agency also writes that the US president acknowledged China’s role in winning World War II and the “importance of the Taiwan issue” for Beijing.
It was previously reported that the United States delegation plans to hold a separate meeting with the Russian side to discuss the “peace project.”
Recall that the United States may postpone the previously established deadline for signing a peace agreement for a certain period of time .
