He wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.
Trump’s statements
According to the American leader, the United States is thus “doing a favor” to other countries, in particular China, Japan, South Korea, France and Germany.
“However, it is very interesting that empty oil tankers from many countries are heading to the United States to load up with oil,” Trump noted.
He also claimed to have completely destroyed Iran’s navy, its aircraft, and the boats that were used to lay mines.
At the same time, The New York Times, citing American officials, reports that Iran cannot fully unblock the strait due to problems with its own naval mines.
According to this data, Tehran:
- does not know the exact location of some of the mines;
- there is no way to quickly neutralize them.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned ships of the mine threat in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the strait would be opened to shipping “subject to technical restrictions.”
US officials say the statement reflects Iran’s difficulty in finding and clearing mines.
As a reminder, Iran confirmed a two-week ceasefire with the United States and stated its readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz for this period.
