The United States will lift some oil-related sanctions to reduce energy prices, which have risen amid the US-Israeli operation against Iran.

US President Donald Trump stated this while speaking to reporters in Florida.

“We are also temporarily lifting some oil-related sanctions to bring down prices. We have sanctions on some countries, but we are lifting those sanctions until the situation stabilizes,” the US president said.

He did not provide any details or specify which countries he plans to lift restrictions from.

“And then who knows, maybe we won’t bring them back,” Trump added.

The American president also added that “when the time comes,” the US Navy and its partners will escort tankers through the strait as needed, but he hopes this will not be necessary.

As a reminder, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the main goal of the US regarding Iran is to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.

As reported, on Sunday, March 8, Iran’s Assembly of Experts elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader at an extraordinary meeting. He became the third spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran after the death of his father, Ali Khamenei.

By the way, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine can help Middle Eastern countries protect people’s lives against the backdrop of Iranian drone attacks and stabilize the situation in the region.
