Trump appoints new special envoy for Ukraine peace plan

US President Donald Trump has appointed Army Secretary Dan Driscoll as his new special envoy to advance a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine.
The Guardian reports this, citing American officials.
According to journalists’ sources, a delegation of high-ranking American military officials—a group of US generals—plans to visit Moscow at the end of next week.
The purpose of the trip is to discuss the details of the US peace plan with representatives of the Kremlin.
To advance the peace plan, Trump appointed Driscoll as his new special envoy.
It is noted that Driscoll is a friend and former classmate of US Vice President J.D. Vance.
Key provisions of a draft US “peace plan,” allegedly agreed upon by representatives of Donald Trump and the Kremlin, were previously revealed. The document contains 28 points concerning Ukraine’s security, territory, economy, and future.
Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War stated that the US-Russia “peace plan,” allegedly consisting of 28 points, effectively amounts to Ukraine’s capitulation and creates the conditions for renewed Russian aggression. Analysts emphasize that the document deprives Ukraine of key defense positions and offers no real guarantees.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the nation with a statement emphasizing that the country is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its recent history. He noted that the state is under unprecedented pressure , and difficult choices may lie ahead.
