US President Donald Trump commented on CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s unexpected visit to Moscow and rejected the suggestion that the trip was connected to Russia’s possible plans for NATO countries.

He stated this in a telephone interview with journalist Glen Beck.

According to Trump, Ratcliffe’s visit is “semi-routine” in nature and is not connected to the most sensational versions that emerged after reports about his trip to Russia.

“He’s there, you know, in some kind of semi-routine mode. I don’t want to disappoint people. We would like to see the war with Ukraine end,” Trump said.

Previously, various speculations regarding the purpose of the CIA director’s visit surfaced in the media and on social media. In particular, discussions centered on Russia’s possible preparations to test NATO’s resolve or even potential attacks on individual Alliance countries.

Trump dismissed such speculation, saying it had nothing to do with the true purpose of Ratcliffe’s trip to Moscow.

As a reminder, on the morning of August 25, an American military transport aircraft Boeing C-17 Globemaster III of the US Air Force landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.
