US President Donald Trump congratulated the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party on its victory in the elections in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The American president wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
Trump called the AfD’s result “a truly big night” and claimed that Germans were tired of the country’s immigration policies, which he believed had caused significant damage to Germany.
“They are on the rise and they are not going to take it anymore!” Trump wrote.
The American president also concluded his message with the acronym MGGA – “Make Germany Great Again!” This is an adaptation of his well-known political slogan, MAGA (Make America Great Again).
The AfD’s result in Saxony-Anhalt marks another regional success for the German far-right party.
As a reminder, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), which opposes support for Ukraine and advocates rapprochement with Russia, won the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt. However, the party fell just a few seats short of an independent majority in the local parliament.
